Three Tips for Blog Meetings

Did you know that most people read five to ten blogs every day, and that there are over 150 million blogs on the internet right now? Given the sheer number of people that are blogging, odds are, anywhere you go there are bloggers around you. Sometimes it is even possible to arrange blog meetings among users. What are some things you should keep in mind for planning blog meetings?

First, it is a good idea to meet bloggers in a public place. There are several advantages to this. First, it takes the burden off any one person for providing a space to meet in. Second, this encourages a feeling of safety. Even though more and more people are using the internet to make friends or set up dates, most people still feel somewhat cautious about meeting up with unfamiliar people. This way they feel comfortable meeting up, and you do not need to give out your address to strangers.

Second, blog meetings should be fun, but not all about blogging. There is only so much you can say about them, after all! Have some ideas for ways that people can relax and get to know each other. Ice breaking activities or topics can be a good start. If you are meeting at a bar, this might be easier. Recommendable is any location that allows people to move around. Restaurants, although they are fun, can be awkward for entire groups meeting up, since people are locked into place where they sit.

Third, sometimes it can be helpful at blog meetings to bring name tags that people can wear to identify themselves with their blog name and their real name, since it is often difficult to match up an online identity with a real life one.
