Not only is it possible to get great aftermarket motorcycle parts and a whole host of custom parts for motorcycles on the market these days, doing all of the work on your own has become easier than it has ever been before. If you are a motorcycle lover and are thinking about doing some customizing motorcycles work in the near future, here are a few important facts that you should keep in mind.

Did you know that as of 2012, there are an estimated 9 million motorcycles registered in the United States. Not only are more and more people choosing motorcycles as a main mode of transportation, more and more people are also choosing to invest in custom motorcycles kits as a way to get their bikes exactly how they want one.

A recent 2013 survey conducted by Consumer Reports found that the most common issues riders had with their motorcycles were brake related.

The Department of Transportation recommends that riders check their motorcycle for issues before each ride to avoid accidents.

Though only 19 states in the United States have universal helmet laws for motorcycle riding, more states are adding these laws every year. Making sure that the people who live and drive in every state has become an important part of the legislature in the states that do not already have these laws. Some of the states that do not have the strictest laws are amending these lapses.

Motorcycle gear is often made of leather, and other durable materials that will protect skin from contact with heated parts of the motorcycle, or the road. One of the reasons that people are adding more protection when they are riding motorcycles is the rising number of accidents that occur involving those that ride them.
