Mobile phones and tablets often operate on the Droid operating system, which had a seventy five percent market share in the third quarter of 2012. With the advancing technology, many businesses are adopting the Android operating system for its employees’ use, and many employees use the same device for personal and business purposes. The figures are estimated at more than eighty percent of US workers utilize a personal electronic device for business purposes and more than half of tablet users utilize these devices for both purposes. Android device management is important, especially for companies who allow employees to bring their own devices or whose employees bring corporate devices home.
Almost half of companies allowing employees to bring their own devices have had a security breach because of that policy. For this reason, Android security models should be up to date in order to maintain client privacy. The use of Android in the enterprise world may make it easier, but lack of Android management and obsolescence of Android security models can compromise sensitive information.
